2021 Bmw Crossover

BMW is known for performance and price, but it wouldn’t be on your list of options if you were to list manufacturers with affordable new cars. While it has that reputation, there are still some BMW options that offer a true bargain for the price, and their lower-end SUV models are great choices that stand out as affordable new SUVs.

2021

BMW is targeting 25 electrified vehicles in its lineup by 2023. The futuristic-looking BMW iNext electric car will roll out of the automaker's factory in Dingolfing, Germany, starting in 2021. That vehicle is the 2021 BMW X3 M40i, a 382-horsepower twin-scroll turbocharged inline-six powered AWD performance crossover. With a substantial power upgrade over the four-cylinder model and lacking a second turbo to compete against the X3 M’s major performance upgrades, the X3 M40i the M Performance variant that tries to blend the best. It’s powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder agent that revs agilely and calmly with acceptable fuel-economy ratings and affluence of power. The berth is ample for such a baby crossover; four adults.

Affordable entry-level luxury

If you are looking to get an entry-level luxury SUV, BMW has quite a bit to offer without breaking the budget. While they aren’t the most affordable options on the market, they stand well against other options of the same price range, making them a surprising option for SUVs of their class that you may not have considered.

The 2021 BMW X1

The 2021 BMW X1 is the smallest and most affordable option in the brand’s lineup of SUVs, and while the price isn’t quite low enough to be considered modest, it is still a great bang for your buck. This model and year comes recommended by Consumer Reports, which notes the highlights and best features of the SUV. While it isn’t the most agile vehicle, it does offer a decent amount of space and cargo capacity while maintaining the BMW luxury we’ve come to know and expect.

There are some pitfalls for the X1 where it doesn’t quite live up to our luxury expectations, however, such as a noisy cabin that allows in more road noise than some drivers would prefer and a lack of standard safety features that you might see in other models of the price range, or even less expensive models.

The 2021 BMW X2

The 2021 BMW X2 is just a step up from the X1 both in price and options, making it an equally affordable and great option for an entry-level luxury SUV. It comes recommended by Consumer Reports, and you can expect to pay around $37,000 to start out. It is a bit more refined than the X1 although it starts out at only a few thousand more, and it’s noted for having superior handling and agility, as well as being a tad more responsive.

The vehicle does have a few downfalls that bring it back down to earth, like a louder cabin and lack of availability of some more standard safety features that you might expect, such as blind spot detection.

Either option of BMW entry-level luxury SUV are great options, and they fit well within the price range of what you would expect of a brand new SUV offering all that they do. While neither vehicle is perfect, they both have a lot to offer and provide a great amount of versatility to drivers who love BMW but want to join the trend of SUV ownership.

Possibly inspired by autumn leaves, BMW is adding a touch of orange to the X2 lineup. It detailed an appearance package named Edition Mesh that gives the crossover a colorful look that won't go unnoticed.

American-spec models will not wear the orange decals shown in BMW's images, but they'll receive pumpkin-colored accents on the 19-inch alloy wheels. Motorists who want a more subtle X2 will be able to order black accents instead. The Edition Mesh package also brings Shadowline exterior trim, the M Sport package, and a high-gloss black grille with three-dimensional mesh inserts (hence the name) borrowed from the X2 M35i.

Buyers will have five colors to choose from named Alpine White, Black Sapphire Metallic, Phytonic Blue Metallic, Sunset Orange Metallic, and Brooklyn Grey Metallic, respectively. The latter is new to the X2 range.

Inside, the Edition Mesh package brings M Sport seats with integrated headrests for the front passengers. Like the aforementioned grille, they're hand-me-downs from the sportier M35i. Specific sill plates, aluminum-look trim, and grey accents complete the look, while the driver faces a three-spoke steering wheel with shift paddles.

BMW is only making the Edition Mesh package available on the base 28i variant of the X2, and there are no mechanical changes. Power comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine turbocharged to deliver 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission come standard, and all-wheel drive is available at an extra cost. BMW pegs the crossover's zero-to-60-mph time at 6.3 seconds.

Selecting the Edition Mesh package adds $3,500 to the 2021 X2's price, which starts at $37,595 with front-wheel drive and $39,595 with all-wheel drive. Both figures included a mandatory $995 destination charge. BMW pointed out it will fill every Edition Mesh order it receives, so it's not a limited-edition variant.
